On-court this week I moved 4 g to 12 o’clock and 2 g in the butt on a 300 g frame, kept swingweight around 320, and dropped tension to 46/44 — saw about 250–300 rpm gains and earlier backhand contact. If you’re validating with SwingVision/Playsight or radar, where are you settling on balance/tension for UTR 8–10 baseliners who need more spin without flaring up the arm?
With 4 g at 12 and “46/44”, add 2 g at 3/9 for elbow-friendlier stability; verify on Playsight.
I’ve gotten better spin at the same about 320 SW by splitting the top mass: 2 g at 10:30 and 2 g at 1:30, keep the 2 g in the butt to calm shock and you’ll bump twistweight so the backhand timing holds. On SwingVision I watch for +200–300 rpm with smaller depth std dev over 25–30 balls — , raw spin jumps can hide control loss — then sanity-check the layout here: Tennis Racquet Customization. @OP what gauge/poly are you pairing with that “46/44”?
I’ve had better spin gains at about 320 SW by keeping your ‘46/44’ but switching to a thinner 1.20 slick poly like Poly Tour Pro — SwingVision showed +200–300 rpm and my arm felt calmer from the quicker snapback; the trade-off is durability, so check for notching around hour 6–8. If you try it, did your backhand contact stay earlier across a full session?
