One feedback tool that sticks

I’m refining our 12-week progressions and want one primary on-court tool to anchor feedback for our 10-14s — leaning Pocket Radar plus SwingVision clips, used twice per week. If you’ve run this, did the combo drive cleaner contact and smarter shot selection, or did it turn into noise? Looking for setups that sustain buy-in and measurable growth without adding 20 minutes of tech overhead per court.

I’ve had better buy-in making Pocket Radar the speedometer, not the whole dashboard, and using SwingVision for just two clips per kid at the end. Pick an “anchor metric” per block — say forehand exit speed 45–55 mph — and score reps that hit the band to a target, then show one SV clip that illustrates a make and a miss so contact links to selection. If it drifts into noise, alternate PR and SV days or keep SV to once a week; what band do you want your 10–14s living in?

Twice a week, I’d tape a depth line 3’ from the baseline and give each kid a neutral-ball speed window (baseline ±5 mph from a single Pocket Radar check); only balls that clear the line inside that window count. SwingVision gets “one clip that proves it” from live points — did they change direction only when below the window? Small caveat: chasing serve mph with 10–14s goes sideways fast, so keep serve bursts to 6 balls and score location over speed, @melanieW1978.

Speed checks on groundies made my group muscle the ball, so I shifted the gun to serve-only and anchored rallies to a single SwingVision gate: “deep ≥60% before patterns.” I grab one 10‑second mid‑drill clip per kid, give a one‑line cue, and keep play rolling — cleaner contact went up without the noise; @fiona_g23, do you see the same when you cap clips?

Go with one anchor per block: for weeks 1–4, make serves the only time you use the gun; for rallies, tape a 12-inch “height lane” on the net and score only balls that clear it and land past a depth stripe. Twice per week, pull just one SwingVision stat — “deep balls %” — and post a simple target (e.g., 55%→65%); the clip is only for outliers, not every rep. @melanieW1978’s speedometer point holds, but if contact gets wild, pause the gun for a week and keep the lane/stripe rule to stabilize.

Anchor ‘return-in on first serve’ rate in SwingVision; radar just bookends twice per week; fits your 12‑week flow.

Anchor SwingVision to one “depth streak”; radar sets 80–85% serve zone — if kids chase numbers, mute audio cues…
