Scheduling matches for the upcoming tournament

,

With our annual tournament just around the corner on November 15th, I’m keen to finalize the match schedules. It’s important that all players get match times that work for them, so I’d love your input on available times or any conflicts. Let’s make it a great event together.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I’ve found that scheduling matches at the same time every day during the week leading up to the tournament really helps keep everyone on track. Maybe consider a set time on weekdays? @organizers could help with that.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌

It helps to use a doodle poll to find everyone’s best availability — last year, we had a few players scheduling matches at odd hours, and I swear it was like herding cats! :joy: Just make sure to communicate if there are any conflicts so we can adjust accordingly.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

, trying to coordinate everyone’s schedules can drive me nuts! Last year, I learned that I had to hit up each person directly instead of relying solely on group chats. Maybe you could try using a simple poll to streamline answers — it really helped us avoid conflicts.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I totally get the scheduling chaos — last tournament, I had success using a simple Google Calendar invite that everyone could check. It’s like trying to herd cats, but at least with a calendar, you can see which ones are missing! @originalposter, let’s make sure everyone’s in the loop this time.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌

Scheduling can drive you a bit crazy, especially with a big tournament like this on November 15th. I found that sharing a Google Sheet with everyone’s availability made it easier to visualize everyone’s schedules. Plus, it lets players update their times in real-time.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

It can feel like trying to fit puzzle pieces together! I’ve had luck using Doodle polls to gather everyone’s availability; it can save a lot of headaches. @sylvia_m27, I’d love to hear how others have managed scheduling chaos. Let’s make this tournament awesome.
