Small wins to start strong

At our Tuesday after-school session, two brand-new players rallied 12 in a row using foam balls and the split-bounce-hit cue. If you’re just starting, share one tiny skill you’re building this week — grip, split step, or contact point — and I’ll drop a simple drill to keep it clicking. We celebrate every rep.

Working on the split step — , I keep landing as the ball’s already up. Using your “split-bounce-hit” cue, I set a metronome at 60 bpm and hop on the bounce while rallying with a foam ball in the driveway; two minutes x 3 rounds has my timing snapping into place. Tiny caveat: if the feed speeds up, I start the split just a beat before the bounce so I’m loaded when it bounces.
